The accident took place today in the morning in the Khabarovsk region in Russia’s Far East, during a test flight of what appeared to be the first serial-production Su-57 5th generation multirole fighter jet.
According to information provided by Russian authorities and aircraft’s manufacturer, the United Aircraft Corporation, the platform’s emergency system responded in the normal mode. The pilot managed to eject safely and came out of the incident with no harm.
The aircraft is said to have crashed in a forested area approx. 111 km from its home airfield. At the moment, the most probable reason of the incident is a technical failure of the aircraft’s control system.
