According to the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Slovakia the delivery of the final batch of three UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters took place on 11th January at the Prešov Air Base in the country’s East. New Black Hawks will join the other six helicopters of this type, which were delivered to Slovakia in previous years.
The government-to-government contract for delivery of nine UH-60M helicopters and auxiliary equipment was signed in 2015. It had a value of $261 million. New helicopters were procured through the U.S. Foreign Military Sale procedure, which means that the U.S. Armed Forces participated in the transaction.
Deliveries of Slovak Black Hawks commenced in 2017. New helicopters were manufactured at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Stratford, Connecticut. Following their hand over to the U.S. Army, the Black Hawks were transported to the Bremerhaven in Germany, and later flew directly to Slovakia.
