According to the Ria Novosti news agency, Russia's Military Industrial Company (VPK) might receive a special governmental permission to promote its newest armoured combat vehicle, Bumerang 8x8 on export markets. Company’s general director, Alexander Krasovitsky, confirmed that the manufacturer will seek to sale the platform to 3rd party customers.
‘For several months now we have been working on the issuance of an advertising and export permission for this vehicle. We receive a lot of requests from foreign customers’, he said.
Bumerang 8x8 armoured combat vehicle was developed for the Russian armed forces as a replacement of a fleet of obsolete BTR 8x8 family of vehicles, which hardly meet the requirements of the modern battlefield. The platform will be offered in at least two variants, armoured personnel carrier (APC) and an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
